◎簡史及概況 美國最早於1949年成立「吸入治療學會」,各界醫學人士開始重視「吸入治療」並進行相關之研究及立法,目前在美國醫學院有多達五十所以上的學校設有呼吸治療系所。國內早期是由中華民國呼吸照護學會培訓呼吸治療專業人員,因非正式教育體系,其嚴謹性及專業性皆有待加強。近年,隨著醫學知識的累積與醫工技術的突飛猛進,醫療照護專業化是全世界不可避免的潮流,國內呼吸治療正處於快速發展的階段。 民國九十一年一月呼吸治療師法公告實施,規定只有公立或立案之私立大學、獨立學院或符合教育部採認規定之國外大學、獨立學院呼吸照護、呼吸治療系、所、組畢業,並經實習期滿成績及格,領有畢業證書者方可報考呼吸治療師國考;取得執照才可進行呼吸治療業務,自此呼吸治療師的來源轉由正式教育體制負責。為提供呼吸治療專業照護人員的來源不虞匱乏,並因應呼吸治療師法之通過,本校於2004年首先成立呼吸治療學系大學部,期盼藉由正規大學教育及完整的訓練方式,吸引更多優秀人才加入呼吸治療的行列來提升呼吸治療人員之專業地位。 |

The School of Respiratory Therapy: Chinese English Introduction ◎ History and overview In 1989 the United States of America formed the “Association of Inspiration Therapy”, afterwards, every public figure in the medical field started to take an interest in “Inspiration Therapy” and began to conduct studies in a related field. Currently, there are over 50 institutions who have a department in respiratory therapy. In earlier days, Taiwan’s respiratory therapy specialists were trained by the Respiratory Care Association of Republic of China. But due to the fact that it was an informal education system, it needed to be more rigorous and more professional. In recent years, with the advancement of medical knowledge and medical engineering technologies, medical care therapy is forced to become more specialized, as a result of this, Taiwan’s respiratory therapy is undergoing a great change and improvement. In January 2002, the regulations for respiratory therapists were announced. Only those from a public or acknowledged private university, independent institution or from a foreign university that is recognized by the ministry of education, independent institution specializing in respiratory care, graduates from the department or institution of respiratory therapy, and those only who have had clinical rotation experience are considered qualified. Also, those with a diploma are eligible to apply for the national respiratory therapist exam; only when the license is acquired can one pursue a career in this field. Briefly, this is how respiratory therapists originated and how its educational system was formally formed. To ascertain that there are no deficiencies in the number of respiratory care therapists, the regulations for respiratory therapists were passed. In 2004, our university was the first to form a department in the field of respiratory therapy. We hope that through a complete and proper university education system and training, we will be able to attract more outstanding students to join in this field of study and to raise the status of all respiratory therapists. |

◎ Characteristics of Development According to the definition of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), respiratory care is a medical specialty whose structure is systematic. Under the direction or supervision of physicians, patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders receive the proper diagnoses, treatment and care. Currently, the largest teaching hospitals in Taiwan have established a respiratory therapy department and even a special room for it. It is hoped that through the specialization of respiratory therapy we can improve patients’ medical services, and ameliorate the living standards of the patients. The establishment of this department in the Taipei Medical University will greatly elevate the quality of medical care in this field. ◎ Teaching Goal 1. Provide proper respiratory therapy education and knowledge in order to improve the quality of patient respiratory care. 2. Foster students with professional respiratory therapy accomplishments and the ability to apply them to practical clinical situations. 3. Cultivate prominent students in research development in order to improve the level of respiratory therapy ◎ Number of Current Teaching staff · 5 teachers: 1 associate professor, 3 assistant professor, 1 lecturer · 15 part time teachers, 5 teachers hired by the school · Teacher characteristics: experience in hospitals or clinics from both overseas or Taiwan, doctor in charge or respiratory therapist with numerous years of experience in either the department of thoracic internal medicine or pediatrics ◎ Curriculum plan · University studies with a four year limit, must fulfill 137 credits to graduate (with 88 compulsory credits and 49 credits that are from elective courses), graduates obtain a bachelor of science degree · Continuing education studies with a three year limit, must fulfill 78 credits to graduate (with 62 compulsory credits and 24 credits that are from elective courses), graduates obtain a bachelor of science degree · Key points of curriculum contents: elective courses, basic medical courses, courses in specialized techniques in respiratory therapy, courses in specialized thoracic and recurring diseases, courses in clinical and practical care, clinical internship and courses in other domains. ◎ Teaching equipment · Laboratory teaching equipments for over 35 groups, furthermore, the Taipei Medical University Hospital and Wen-Fang Hospital have over 40 equipments at our disposal 1. Artificial lung simulation tester (adult/children/new born) 2. Software in clinical operation, simulation, testing and etc 3. Full function intensive respiratory (new born/children/adult) 4. Oxygen , humidity, fog therapy and analysis equipment 5. Various ventilators 6. Artificial gas chambers, first aid teaching models ◎ Research and Academics · Planning of research focus with the research team as the base to improve the level of research · Research on the conformity between basic and clinical studies conducted in conjunction with the department of thoracic internal medicine in the Taipei Medical University Hospital and Wen-Fang Hospital · Promotion of international academic corporation in order to strengthen international academic exchange ◎ Employment and Continuing Education · Registration for specialized profession and technician qualification examination in order to obtain respiratory therapist license · Respiratory therapists and pulmonary functional check technicians in all large private and public medical centers (thoracic recovering rooms, intensive care units for recurrence, long term care units, etc) · Promotion, sales and development of respiratory care and therapy equipment · Application for life sciences related masters program abroad or within Taiwan in order to obtain masters or doctorate degree · A career in the study and development of technical improvement

◎發展特色 根據美國呼吸治療學會(AARC)的定義,呼吸治療是一項有組織的醫療專業,在醫師囑咐或照會下,對心肺功能缺損或異常者給予診斷、治療及照護。目前國內各大教學醫院皆已設立呼吸治療科、室,希望藉由呼吸治療師的專業,對病患提供更好的醫療服務,進而提升病患生活品質。北醫設立此一具前瞻性之學系,對於提昇醫療品質將有莫大助益。 ◎教學目標 1. 提供呼吸治療師正規教育之養成來源,以提昇病患呼吸照護的品質。 2. 培養學生具備呼吸治療專業素養及臨床實務應用之能力。 3. 培養研究發展之人才,提高呼吸治療的專業程度。 ◎師資陣容 ! 專任教師5位:副教授1位、助理教授3位、講師1位。 ! 兼任教師15位、校內合聘教師5位。 ! 教師專長:國內外各醫療院所胸腔內科及小兒科主治醫師及具多年臨床實務經驗呼吸治療師。 ◎課程規劃: !大學部修業年限為四年,畢業總學分數為137(含必修88學分,通識28學分,選修21學分),授予理學士學位。 !二技在職進修班修業年限為三年,畢業總學分數為78(含必修62學分,通識8學分,選修16學分),授予理學士學位。 !課程內容重點:通識課程、基礎醫學課程、呼吸治療技術專業課程、胸腔及重症醫學專業課程、臨床實際照護課程、醫院臨床實習及跨領域之學程等。 ◎教學設備 !實驗室教學儀器設備共計35組以上。另外,北醫附設醫院及萬芳醫院有多達40餘種可借用之儀器設備。 1.人工肺模擬測試器(成人/小兒/新生兒型) 2.臨床操作、模擬、測驗等軟體 3.全功能加護型呼吸器(含新生兒/小兒/成人) 4.氧氣、溼氣、霧氣治療及分析設備 5.各式呼吸輔助器 6.人工氣道、急救教學等模型 ◎研究及學術 !規劃研究重點,以研究團隊為基礎,提升研究之質與量。!與附設醫院及萬芳醫院胸腔內科進行基礎與臨床整合之研究工作。 !推動國際學術合作,加強國際學術交流。 ◎就業及進修 ! 報考專門職業及技術人員高等考試合格,取得呼吸治療師專業證照。 ! 各大公私立醫療機構(胸腔復原治療室、重症加護病房、長期照護機構等)之呼吸治療師、肺功能檢查技術師。 ! 呼吸照護、治療等器材的推廣、銷售與研發。 ! 報考國內外生命科學相關之研究所,取得碩、博士學位。
